Wedding Cakes- A Design Source

Look out for our simple and stylish Applique Blossom cake on the cover of the latest edition of 'Wedding Cakes- A Design Source' magazine. This summer, we've made this design in various colours and sizes to match our bride's colour schemes and portion requirements. It's simple made by cutting out hundreds of tiny blossoms using a plunger cutter and then using a no.4 piping nozzle to cut out the centres. Then just stick them on randomly!!

As the mad summer season starts to slow down, I finally have a little time to introduce my first cake decorating book, Cake Decorating at Home. The book includes easy to follow step-by-step guides and simple techniques to create a variety of cake and cookie designs. I give handy tips all the way through so its not at all daunting!

The book has 10 chapters, each chapter has a central theme with one main cake design and 2 smaller designs which can be made all together or individually. All the designs can be adapted and the themes can all be tweaked to a different theme or occasion so the designs which have inspired me are there to inspire you!

Sugar sunflowers are really easy to make and are great for late summer weddings. Cutters can be brought from A Piece of Cake and are available in various sizes. For the centres, roll a small ball of brown paste and press some netting into it to make the indentations.
